Dental Clinic (1990-present)

Our projects began in 1990 with ten women who had the goal of working together to live better. The dental clinic was the first project to be developed with the financial support of a Sister Parish church in Bemidji, Minnesota, and working with the technical assistance of several Guatemalan dentists. Several of us were trained to be dental assistants, learning to clean and extract teeth, take impressions, buy materials, take inventory, and maintain the clinic. The clinic also has received economic assistance from a couple in Maryland. Currently, we have a fully-equipped clinic and dentist from the community which is open two mornings a week.

Our Needs:

  • We need for the clinic to be open two additional mornings as currently we are not meeting all of the demand.

  • We need a lamp for photo curing, and a cavitron, the machine to clean the teeth.

  • We need to purchase new X-ray equiptment.
