UPAVIM
has received support from countless individuals and foundations
since the cooperative began in 1989. Below is a partial list of
some of UPAVIM's significant and financial supporters. All donations
are tax-deductible (at least in the U.S.), and the money can go
to a specific program or can go into UPAVIM's general fund.
UPAVIM's
greatest need right now are funds for the completion of Phase 2
and 3 of the Annex, which is a second four-story building to provide
more space for the school and crafts-production as well as other
income generating projects and community service programs. Despite
this looming need, UPAVIM still appreciates small donations from
individuals, and we thank the many friends and former volunteers
who continue to give generously to support the two scholarship funds:
Becas
- a scholarship pays for one child's inscription and required
materials for one year of primary or junior high school. Junior
high recipients are required to do volunteer work and all recipients
are required to pass their classes for the year to receive the
scholarship the following year. The scholarship costs US$35and
UPAVIM has awarded over 400 for the 2003 school year.
Becas
de Carreras - this scholarship pays for 3 years of professional
high school education for a bright teenager who would not be able
to afford the costs of the school, books and the uniform. All
recipients do community service and many have formed the Group
UNE - Una Nueva Esperanza (A New Hope). This scholarship costs
US$XXXX and UPAVIM currently sponsors XX young men and women.
These
scholarship programs depend entirely on international support. Please
write "Becas" or "Becas de Carrera" on your
check if you wish to support one of these programs. Please make
the check out to IFTF - InterFaith Task Force (a U.S. based 501c3
non-profit organization, and send it to Mary Joan, whose address
is at left.
